• Sidelite

  A fixed narrow glazed panel beside an entry door that adds light and a wider, grander look.

• SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient)

  The fraction of solar heat a window admits (0–1); lower reduces cooling load. Climate determines whether high or low SHGC is desirable.

• Sill

  The horizontal bottom member of a window frame, sloped to shed water away from the building.

• Sash

  The framed, often movable panel that holds the glass within a window. Double-hung windows have an upper and lower sash.

• Sill Pan

  A waterproof tray at the base of a window rough opening that catches and drains any water that gets past the window to the exterior.

• Roof / Tubular Skylight
